The man suspected of robbing the Rabobank in Solvang last month is now in custody in Santa Barbara County.

The robbery happened on June 13. At the time, investigators said only that the robber got away with an unknown amount of cash.

During the investigation that followed, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials say they were able to identify the suspect at Marcus Lee Ghent, 32, of Madera County.

An arrest warrant was issued for Ghent on June 18.

A few days later, sheriff’s officials say they were notified by the police department in Wright City, Missouri that Ghent had been taken into custody. Officers had reportedly made contact with him during a welfare check and realized he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Ghent reportedly waived extradition back to Santa Barbara County and was booked into the County Jail on July 6. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

Sheriff’s officials say investigators are looking into the possibility that Ghent could be linked to another bank robbery in another California county. They say he does not appear to have any ties to the Santa Barbara County area.
