An Amber Alert suspect arrested in northern San Luis Obispo County Monday is expected in court Wednesday.

The San Jose Police Department says Victor Magana was booked into jail there Monday night following his arrest that morning at a Shell gas station on Main Street in Cambria.

A man visiting the Central Coast from Oregon says he recognized the suspect's vehicle from the Amber Alert.

While he blocked the car in and called authorities, nearby men helped restrain Magana.

The 24-year-old was reportedly seen hitting the car window in an attempt to break it after locking his keys inside the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with his 2-year-old girl inside.

The girl is in the care of Child Protective Services, police say.

Her mother "is in critical but stable condition" after authorities say she was stabbed by Magana in San Jose before he took off with their daughter.
