Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a crash on Highway 1 near Orcutt Friday afternoon, identifying him as Rene Menjivar, 52, of Guadalupe.
The California Highway Patrol says he was driving a Rancho Harvest Farms big rig hauling celery and heading northbound on the highway just south of Black Road when a car pulled out of the Rancho Maria Golf Course, directly into front of the truck.
Menjivar reportedly swerved but the two vehicles collided, with the truck landing on its side.
Menjivar was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another vehicle heading the opposite direction reportedly tried to avoid the crash and landed in upside down in a ditch.
The other drivers were uninjured, according to CHP.
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash.
