Former Santa Ynez Valley High School Board President Bruce Porter launched his campaign for county supervisor this week.
Porter is running for 3rd District Supervisor. That seat is currently held by Joan Hartmann.
Porter says, if elected, he will explore new ways to generate revenue to fund services that were cut to balance the budget and address the backlog of road and infrastructure projects. Education will also be a major focus.
"With your voice, we can improve our schools and improve the communities where we live, work and play," he said. "We really need to restore that level of confidence that we have in our own county government."
Porter served 25 years with the Army Corps of Engineers before moving his family to the Santa Ynez Valley in 2001.
