For the next two weeks, Caltrans will close the Toro Creek Bridge in Montecito so crews can make necessary repairs and improvements.

Officials say the closure will be in place weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The construction will cause Highway 192 to shut down from Ortega Ridge Rd. to Toro Canyon Rd. Drivers are asked to take an alternate route.

Crews will be working to widen the bridge, install bicycle railing and crash cushions, according to officials with Caltrans.

The Toro Creek Bridge was one of six bridges along Highway 192 that were damaged in the Montecito mudslides of January 2018.

Caltrans officials expect work on Toro Creek Bridge to be completed by the end of the year.
