UPDATE: Suspect identified, arrested for carjacking vehicle in Guadalupe

UPDATE: Grover Beach police identified a suspect in Tuesday night's carjacking in Guadalupe.

Luis Enrique Lopez Ortiz, 27, of Anaheim, CA was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for charges of car jacking and auto theft.

Police suspect alcohol and speeding were factors in the crash.

A carjacking suspect was arrested after crashing the vehicle he allegedly stole, Grover Beach Police Department reported.

In a Facebook post, the department said a 2016 Toyota Camry was heavily damaged after the 27-year-old Anaheim man overturned the vehicle in a field in Guadalupe on New Year's Eve.

It was reportedly stolen at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 7th Street and Longbranch Avenue in Grover Beach.

The Guadalupe Fire Department posted the suspect suffered minor injuries. Alcohol and speed are factors, the department stated.

The man will be booked into jail after treatment for his injuries. His name is not being released at this time.
