The 83rd Annual Danish Days celebration kicks off this Friday in Solvang.
The festival celebrates the city's Danish heritage and includes a Viking encampment, axe-throwing demonstrations, an old world marketplace, Æbleskiver cooking demos and eating contests, a Kids' Korner, storytellers, and other activities.
Danish Days takes place Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22, with most events taking place in the heart of town.
Friday's schedule includes a free concert in Solvang Park starting at 4 p.m., the Torchlight Parade beginning at Alisal Rd. and Laurel Ave. at 7:30 p.m., and opening ceremonies at 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday begin with an Æbleskiver breakfast for $8. The Danish Days Parade takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and a children's parade is held on Sunday at 2 p.m. with festivities wrapping up with a closing ceremony at 2:30.
