The California Highway Patrol cited 18 people Wednesday morning for speeding on Highway 154.

The speed enforcement operation took place between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the stretch of highway near Armour Ranch Rd.

The Buellton office of the California Highway Patrol has been conducting multiple saturation patrols looking for speeding drivers in the Santa Ynez Valley over the past few months.

This most recent operation comes just a few days after a woman and two young children were killed in a head-on crash on Highway 154 just west of the Cold Spring Bridge.

"With these tragic and senseless collisions occurring on SR-154, we will not stand idly by," read a message on the CHP-Buellton Facebook page Wednesday. "We will continue with our mission of saving lives. If you travel within Buellton CHP's 650 mile jurisdiction, be prepared to leave early and arrive alive or deal with one of our enforcement detail units."

CHP is asking anyone with information about last week's deadly crash to contact investigators at (805) 967-1234.
