UPDATE (3:49 p.m.) - The Santa Barbara County Coroner's Office has identified the man who died as Justin, Ulmer, 25, of Ventura.

ORIGINAL STORY: The California Highway Patrol is releasing more information about a deadly crash in Carpinteria over the weekend.

It happened at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, north of Linden Avenue.

Officers say a 25-year-old man from Ventura was going through a construction zone there when he lost control of his pickup truck causing it to go off the highway and overturn before landing on its roof in between the northbound and southbound lanes.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say it’s unclear whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of the highway in the area for about two hours after the crash.

The man’s name will be released once his family is notified.
