The 2019 Chumash Charity Golf Classic is raising money to help rebuild Camp Rancho Alegre.
The 2017 Whittier Fire destroyed almost all of the structures at the camp located off Highway 154. It had been used by the Boy Scouts and The Outdoor School for more than 50 years.
It's expected to cost about $15.5 million to rebuild the camp. The Los Padres Council of the Boy Scouts of America is trying raise the $6.5 million of that cost which won't be covered by insurance.
The two-day golf tournament, taking place Wednesday and Thursday at the Alisal River Course in Solvang, was sold out. Some of the money raised will also help fund the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians' Technology in Schools Program.
