The City of Atascadero announced Friday that 63 applications for Small Business Emergency Assistant Grant checks have been approved and the checks have been printed.
Most of the businesses approved for checks will be receiving them over the next day or two.
The Atascadero City Council passed a resolution in December authorizing the use of $250,000 from the city's general fund to provide these business grants.
These grants were designed to support small businesses most impacted financially by the most recent regional stay-at-home order.
Applications for grant money were due Jan. 4.
“We are very happy to be able to offer some financial assistance to so many local businesses during this very difficult time," Atascadero Mayor Heather Moreno said in Friday's announcement. "We remain committed to working together with all Atascadero business owners to help ensure they remain a viable and active member of our community. The City is grateful to the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce and their fundraising efforts put towards this assistance fund, which enabled the City to send more checks out today than we originally planned.”
