Members around the community gathered tonight to honor the fallen detective.
A group organized a ribbon tying around San Luis Obispo.
Group members say their goal is to blanket all of downtown with blue ribbons on trees and light poles.
Haley Raymer, who helped tie ribbons, said the purpose of the event was to show the police department and families the community is there to support them.
