In Atascadero Saturday, community members organized a drive-thru barbecue fundraiser for Colony Days.

People had to pre-order their meals, which included a $40 chicken dinner for four people or a $50 tri-tip dinner for four.

The meals came with salad, bread and dessert.

Event organizers say this was an important fundraiser for Atascadero Colony Days since the organization was unable to host their usual Fourth of July sponsored events due to the pandemic.

"We have had donated items from Grocery Outlet, Brian's Bread, Air Rite, Spencer's Market and lots of community members who made desserts. It's been amazing, and the community is turning out. We have 120 dinners sold so far today," said Karen McNamara, Chair of Atascadero Colony Days.

Atascadero Colony Days takes place every October. If it does not get canceled or postponed this year, this will be the event's 47th year
