A driver led San Luis Obispo police on a chase early Thursday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle driving north of Santa Margarita on Highway 101 that matched a description associated with a burglary. The vehicle was described as an older green Ford Thunderbird.

The driver, identified as Selena Monique Grijalva, failed to stop for the officer.

She then led police on a chase, exceeding speeds of 100 MPH.

Police say Grijalva nearly hit another vehicle on the highway before driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway.

The vehicle then drove off the road and struck a tree on the Morro Road on-ramp to southbound Highway 101.

California Highway Patrol officers took the driver into custody. She was booked into the county jail with bail set at $50,000.

No injuries were reported.

San Luis Obispo police are trying to determine whether Grijalva was involved in the reported San Luis Obispo burglary.
