A former Paso Robles church employee has pleaded no contest to embezzlement charges.

Claire Eastinwas charged with three felony countsof grand theft by embezzlement after being accused of taking more than $200,000 from Life Community Church between January 2012 and April 2018.

According to the criminal complaint against her, Eastin falsified records to conceal the theft while she was handling the church's bookkeeping.

As part of a plea agreement with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, officials say Eastin pleaded no contest Wednesday to two counts of grand theft by embezzlement. A third embezzlement charge was then dismissed.

When back in court Nov. 18, the DA’s Office says she will likely be sentenced to two years and eight months in state prison.

Eastin will also be required to pay an undetermined amount of restitution to Life Community Church.
