From now until January 10, 2020, Santa Barbara County Animal Services is giving shelter dogs and cats and potential owners a chance to get to know each other with The Foster Express Challenge.

The Foster Express Challenge allows potential owners to spend time with pets outside of the shelter before they adopt them, whether it be a few hours or a few weeks.

The challenge is to help get shelter pets more exposure and bring in new caregivers, according to Santa Barbara County Animal Services.

"19 out of 21 of our adoptions last month were a result of this program and we currently have about 15 more dogs lucky enough to be sleeping in cozy foster homes tonight,” shared Santa Barbara County Animal Services Director Tara Diller in a press release.

This holiday season, Santa Barbara County Animal Services is urging folks to take a cat to coffee or a dog for a dip in a lake.

For more information, contact sbcasfosters@gmail.com or visit any of their shelters located in Santa Barbara (5473 Overpass Road), Lompoc (1501 West Central Avenue), and Santa Maria (548 W. Foster Road).
