Faeries, farms, and festivals to help celebrate Mother's Day weekend on the Central Coast

In honor of Mother’s Day, an eventful weekend is ahead for the Central Coast. From a celebration of olive oil and lavender to unforgettable outings like sheep shearing and whimsical faerie magic, there’s something meaningful and fun for everyone to enjoy!

SLO Sheriff's Rodeo
Friday, May 8: 5p.m. & Saturday, May 9: 2 p.m.; Paso Robles Event Center

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Rodeo kicks off Friday night with the Battle of the Bulls featuring professional bull riders, plus a live concert by Casey Donahew. Come back on Saturday for the Rodeo Finals and a concert featuring Gunhar Latham.

Paso Robles Olive and Lavender Festival
Saturday, May 9; 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Downtown City Park, Paso Robles

Enjoy a day full of fresh scents and fine tastes on Saturday at the Paso Robles Olive and Lavender Festival in Downtown City Park. Meet local farmers, sample olive oils, and enjoy a unique sensory experience while learning about the diverse local olive oils and lavender in the region. Admission is free.

Faerie Festival
Saturday, May 9;10 a.m.-2 p.m.; SLO Botanical Garden, San Luis Obispo

Magic fills the air Saturday at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden's 4th annual Faerie Festival, featuring crafts, storytelling, face painting, and music. Faerie attire is encouraged! Entry is free, but there is a $5 fee to enter El Chorro Regional Park, or you can take the free shuttle from Cuesta College.

Sheep Shearing Shindig
Saturday, May 8; 12 p.m.-4 p.m.: City Farm SLO, 1221 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo

Observe the art of sheep shearing this Saturday at City Farm SLO. Watch live sheep shearing demonstrations and get hands-on with wool processing. Guests can also tour the farm and enjoy other family-friendly activities, including scavenger hunts throughout the day.
