The Lompoc Police Department is welcoming a new member to the force.
The department's newest K9, Brahms, is a 2-year-old German shepherd.
Brahms just completed a 10 week training program with his handler and partner, Officer David Garza. His first shift was Thursday.
Brahms was cross-trained in narcotics and patrol procedures.
The Lompoc Police Department lost a K9 and his handler back in April when they retired from the force.
"He's a good dog, he's really sociable with people but when its time to take care of business he can turn it up a little bit and do his job," says Garza.
A private donation allowed the department to bring on Brahms.
