Lompoc temporarily suspends city regulations prohibiting outdoor business operations

The city manager of Lompoc issued a proclamation temporarily suspending city regulations that prohibit outdoor business operations.

According to a news release from Lompoc City Manager Jim Throop, the Lompoc City Council unanimously approved the proclamation during their meeting Tuesday.

In the proclamation, city officials said outdoor businesses cannot operate on city sidewalks or play live music unless the business obtained a permit from the city. Outdoor businesses may operate between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. unless otherwise permitted by the city.

The proclamation will remain in effect until the city council ends it or until councilmembers declare an end to the local state of emergency due to COVID-19, whichever occurs first, according to the proclamation.

The California Department of Public Health ordered indoor operations for certain types of businesses to close while allowing some of these businesses to continue operations outdoors as long as they follow industry-specific state guidance, including the use of masks and social distancing practices, according to the release.
