Campers can make s'mores again in the Los Padres National Forest.
The U.S. Forest Service lifted restrictions on campfires and barbecues after heavy rain and snow reduced the threat of fire danger.
Campers can build campfires in all areas of the forest but need a special permit if outside of a designated Campfire Use Site.
Outside of those areas, people need to make sure they clear a five-foot radius around the fire so it does not catch on flammable materials. They also need a shovel, someone supervising the fire at all times and must use the "drown, stir and feel method" to extinguish the fire.
Campers can visit the Forest website for more information.
