Nails done in the sun in Santa Maria, under state's new guidelines

SANTA MARIA — A nail salon in Santa Maria has reopened outdoors under the state's new guidelines.

MOD Nails has four stations set up outside of its location in the South Broadway Food Maxx shopping center.

The owners have a sign up sheet for people to get their nails done.

They also have chairs for them to wait their turn or customers can wait in the cars.

"It's pretty neat like coming outside enjoying the weather you know like better than being inside all hot," customer Mariah Martinez said.

The salon is not offering pedicures at this time.

Governor Newsom announced Monday personal care services like hair salons, barbershops, and nail salons can reopen as long as they operate outside in an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
