Some people in San Luis Obispo County can now have library materials delivered directly to their home.

The new Library by Mail (LBM) service is available for free to homebound seniors 60 and older and is designed to connect them to books, audiobooks and other materials.

"The Adult Services Department is excited to launch Library by Mail,” said Sharon Coronado, coordinating librarian, adult services in a press release. “This free service brings the library to seniors who can't visit one of our locations or use the library through traditional service methods. I love connecting people to library resources and I've been concerned about our senior patrons who may be isolated, especially during the pandemic. LBM gives us a chance to serve our seniors on a deeper level, to help them know services available from their local library, and to provide a lifeline through stories."

The selected items will be shipped in heavy-duty USPS bags with pre-paid postage.

To apply for LBM service, call Sharon Coronado at (805) 781-4187 or for more information, click here.
