A man died after apparently falling off a retaining wall in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, according to police.
It happened at about 12:40 p.m. at South Higuera St. and Elks Ln.
Police say witnesses saw the man walking along the top of the approximately 9-11 foot tall retaining wall. After passing him, they reportedly looked back and saw him on the ground.
Police say the man was in his 50s.
The coroner is investigating the cause of death but police say he suffered severe head trauma.
Traffic through the area was impacted for a little more than an hour while emergency crews were on scene.
