The City of Paso Robles is one of many local communities celebrating National Farmers Market Week.

It’s an annual event that supports farmer markets around the nation through training, technical assistance, and network building.

Organizers say this is a way to get to know and support local farmers during the pandemic as they adapt to new ways to continue to serve the community.

Tuesday's farmers market in Paso Robles included scavenger hunts for kids, recipe ideas, and raffles.

"It's just to give back to the community. We purchase from the farmers and we pass it on to the community, to all our shoppers. It's just a time just to really be thankful for both the farmers and the community," said Robyn Gable, Market Coordinator.

In addition to providing local residents with baked goods, fresh produce, and much more, the farmers market will also be providing more information on CalFresh EBT benefits that allow customers to purchase fresh local produce at the markets.

The Market Match program allows low-income families to use their benefits to earn more money for groceries when they shop at farmers markets.

If people were unable to make it to Tuesday's market, there’s another farmers market happening in Paso Robles on Saturday at the Downtown City Park.
