City council members in Paso Robles made a decision in their Tuesday night meeting to move forward with a new low-income housing development for seniors.

River Walk Terrace is the proposed name of the complex. It will be located on a 4.21-acre parcel at the southwest corner of the Woodland Plaza II shopping center, south of Niblick Road and west and River Road.

It will include a mix of 79 one and two-bedroom affordable housing units for seniors 62 years of age and older.

Amenities include a residents' center, laundry facilities, central courtyard, community garden, barbecue area, pedestrian pathways throughout with connectivity to the commercial shopping center, a revised parking area, and a new ADA pathway for access to the Salinas River Trail.

Planning developers hope to break ground in December 2021.
