Pioneer Valley High School Culinary Arts students prepared and served meals to residents at the Good Samaritan Shelter in Santa Maria on Thursday.
Students in the Apparel Construction and Design program also made 60 pillows with handwritten notes containing positive messages and handed them out to residents.
Teachers Jenn Montanez and Melissa Diaz say they've written their curriculum with giving back in mind and want students to understand how the skills they're learning in class can benefit the community.
This is the fourth year Pioneer Valley has partnered with the Good Samaritan Shelter for this program.
