Wreckage from a small plane that crashed at an Orcutt school this week has been removed.
Workers could be seen loading what remained of the Cirrus SR20 onto a truck at Dunlap Elementary Thursday morning. It's unknown where the truck was headed.
The FAA says the plane had departed from Van Nuys and was headed for Santa Maria when it crashed on the school's basketball court and caught fire at about 10:42 a.m. Wednesday.
The family of the pilot killed was also at the crash site Thursday to leave flowers and grieve their loved one.
The pilot's name has not been released and calls to the company that reportedly owns the plane have gone unanswered.
The FAA and NTSB are handling the investigation.
