A Santa Barbara woman is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of a 76-year-old in Santa Barbara this week.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office says a felony complaint has been filed against Leinani McClintic, 41, for the April 8 stabbing of Hiilani Mikaitis.

The Santa Barbara Police Department remains tight-lipped on details surrounding the investigation, only saying they responded to a call around 9:11 a.m. Wednesday reporting a "person down" and once on scene, they determined the person was dead.

The DA's office says the murder was willful, premeditated and deliberate and added an allegation to the complaint against McClintic for use of a deadly weapon.

She was arraigned in Santa Barbara Superior Court Friday where bail was set at $2 million. She did not enter a plea and is due back in court Monday.
