Santa Maria police climb Dunkin' Donuts rooftop to support Special Olympics

Some Santa Maria police officers went to new heights Thursday to support Special Olympics Southern California.

The officers climbed atop the roof at the Dunkin' Donuts on South Broadway to drum up donations.

Anyone who stopped by to make a donation to the Special Olympics received a coupon for a free coffee.

It was all part of the "Cop on a Rooftop" event hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

More than 300 law enforcement officers participated in "Cop on a Rooftop" at 71 Dunkin' locations throughout Southern California.

Funds raised help Special Olympics Southern California provide year-round sports,health and leadership programs for children and adults with disabilities.
