A cannabis grow that was damaged in a brush fire Wednesday east of Lompoc was determined to be operating illegally, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
The fire burned about 17 acres and destroyed a shed, a vehicle, and some agricultural equipment.
It broke out at around 1 p.m. in the 4700 block of Sweeney Rd.
Members of the county's Cannabis Compliance Team executed a search warrant at the property later that evening.
Sheriff's officials say they eradicated 1,800 plants in various stages of growth and seized approximately 100 pounds of processed marijuana.
