San Luis Obispo County officials confirmed Thursday that District 3 Supervisor Adam Hill was being investigated for allegations of workplace misconduct before his death.

Officials would not elaborate on the misconduct allegations against Hill, saying in a statement, "Because this is an ongoing personnel investigation, we will not release details at this time to protect all those involved and ensure the integrity of the process."

Hill was found dead at his home in Pismo Beach on August 6.

In early July, Hill announced that he was seeking specialized treatment for depression and encouraged others who were struggling to reach out for help.

In March, Hill was hospitalized and later stated that he had attempted suicide.

On the same day that Hill was hospitalized, the FBI served a search warrant at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center. Hill said at the time that he could not comment on the pending and confidential investigation but that "we are cooperating fully with their inquiries."

The FBI also would not comment on the investigation and told KSBY News on Thursday that the investigation is ongoing.
