UPDATE: Police make an arrest in Arroyo Grande stabbing investigation

(UPDATE 8/21) - The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office says Matthew Ehens has pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court for a pre-preliminary hearing Sept. 9.

ORIGINAL STORY: Arroyo Grande police made an arrest in connection to a stabbing that happened on the 600 block of Lancaster Dr. Friday, August 2nd. The suspect, Matthew Ehens, fled the scene before police arrived.

On Saturday morning, officers spotted Ehens, 36, in Arroyo Grande. Police say Ehens then fled again from police, leading them on a police chase which came to an end in a crash on Zenon Way and Halcyon Road at 9:10 a.m.

Police arrested Ehens at the crash scene for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail.

The SLO County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest.

The name of the person stabbed on Friday night has not been released. The victim was transported to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
