Firefighters worked to put out a vegetation fire in Goleta Thursday morning.

It sparked at around 7 a.m. in a eucalyptus grove near Southbound Highway 101 and Winchester Canyon.

About a quarter of an acre burned.

Firefighters say there was a large homeless encampment in the area.

The fire prompted the closure of the Union Pacific railroad tracks for an unknown amount of time.

No injuries were reported.
