UPDATE (3:55 p.m.) - CAL FIRE SLO says defensible space saved a home from a fire that broke out Friday afternoon in Paso Robles.

CAL FIRE SLO reports the fire, which is now fully contained, broke out shortly after 3 p.m. near Highway 46 and Jardine Road and initially threatened two homes; however, only one acre of vegetation burned.

Crews are expected to remain on scene until around 5 p.m. to mop up.

ORIGINAL STORY: Firefighters were responding to reports of a vegetation fire in northern San Luis Obispo County Friday afternoon.

Multiple resources were dispatched to the area of Jardine Road and Highway 46 in Paso Robles as of 3:03 p.m.

Five minutes later, the fire was said to be growing.
