A Pismo Beach woman has been arrested in connection with a package theft investigation in Hope Ranch.

On Tuesday, August 13, a surveillance camera captured video of a woman taking a package from the front gate of a home located in the 900 block of Via Rosita. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says the package was worth more than $2,000.

On Saturday, August 17, sheriff's officials say a California Highway Patrol Officer in the Hope Ranch area spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle seen in the surveillance video.

The sheriff's office says the officer conducted a traffic stop and located the stolen property in the vehicle. They say the driver, identified as Stephanie Small, 22, was also found to be in possession of burglary tools, stolen mail from Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange counties, and stolen checks and account numbers.

Small was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, identity theft, mail theft, and possession of burglary tools.

Sheriff's officials say the stolen property was returned to the owner on Via Rosita.

The California Highway Patrol is reportedly working to contact additional victims throughout the state.
