The Paul Nelson Aquatic Center pool in Santa Maria is expected to be filled with water by the end of the week.
The pool was closed in January for renovations.
This week, crews were working to plaster the pool. Once that process is complete, City officials say it will be filled with water to prevent cracking or other issues.
The original goal was to have the aquatic center back open by April 1, but due to COVID-19 and other delays, City officials say it’s unknown at this time when the pool will be open again.
While the pool has been patched up several times over the years, the last full resurfacing project was in 1997.
City officials say they have advised the contractor on the project to maintain social distancing. Workers must also wear necessary protective gear.
