UC Santa Barbara has announced it will be transitioning instruction to online classes in response to coronavirus concerns.

Remote instruction will take place for the rest of Winter Quarter and the start of Spring Quarter through at least the end of April, according to a message from Chancellor Henry T. Yang.

The message sent to campus Tuesday goes on to say that undergraduates traveling for spring break should be prepared to remain away from campus through the month of April.

The campus will reportedly remain open during this time. Housing and dining will continue normal operations.

The chancellor's message adds that UCSB's Athletics Department will also be moving to "fan-less" events, and campus groups are urged to consider postponing, canceling, or rescheduling on-campus events that may involve crowds.
