UPDATE (5:40 p.m.) - Police say officers were called to Hotel Cerro at about 9 a.m. on Tuesday for a report that a woman who had spent the night at the hotel was refusing to leave and had threatened the staff.

When officers arrived, the woman reportedly barricaded herself in the room.

All hotel rooms on the same floor were evacuated as a precaution and nearby streets were closed to traffic.

Police say that at about 3 p.m., after several hours of negotiations, the woman was eventually convinced to leave the room and was taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Patricia Castaneda of Grover Beach, was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, a felony charge.
