KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 8 ‘Game of the Week’ features a Mountain League matchup between Arroyo Grande and Righetti.
The Warriors have played some outstanding football this season, sporting a 7-1 overall record and 2-0 in Mountain League play. Righetti topped Atascadero last Friday night, 42-14.
It’s been no surprise how the Warriors have attacked their opponents this year, a whole lot of running the ball. Righetti’s run-first offense is averaging over 43 points per game in 2018.
A win over the Eagles could put Righetti in the driver’s seat for a Mountain League title, but they know Arroyo Grande will give them all they’ve got on Friday night.
“Number one is to be the best team in town. Number two is a Mountain League championship. That’s definitely on the table and something we’re striving for,” Righetti head coach Tony Payne said. “We talk about it every single day. They know that a win against us still puts everything on the table for them, so we expect their best. We know that’s what we’re going to get.”
“It would be awesome in my senior year to beat AG and have the position to be able to be League champions,” Righetti senior center Christian Mondol added. “That would be an amazing feeling.”
The game is at Arroyo Grande on Friday, kickoff set for 7 P.M.
