KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 10 ‘Play of the Week’ goes to St. Joseph’s Trevor Cole, while Mission Prep’s Chase Jones earns ‘Player of the Week’ honors.

Trailing 27-21 with under two minutes remaining in the ‘Battle for the Shield’, Righetti had one last drive to either tie or win the game against St. Joseph.

Warriors quarterback Brandon Giddings rolled right and tossed to the outside but it was intercepted by the Knights’ Trevor Cole. The senior’s thievery sealed the deal for St. Joseph as they went on to capture the inaugural Mountain League championship.

Mission Prep’s Chase Jones has literally been the best ball hawk in the state. Friday night against Orcutt Academy, Jones snatched his 10th interception of the season, ranking him first in all of California high school football. The 10 interceptions are also second in the nation among 8-man football programs.

Jones has tied a Mission Prep school record which was set back in 2009 by Kevin Laird.

The Royals defeated the Spartans, 42-28, to clinch the Central Sierra League title.
