Cuesta tops Allan Hancock to clinch share of conference title, 74-70

The Cuesta College men’s basketball team defeated rival Allan Hancock College, 74-70, to clinch a share of the Western State-North Conference title with Ventura College on Friday night inside Joe White Gymnasium.

The sophomore guard combo of Josh Wilson-Murry and Jorge Bueno scored a combined 50 points in the victory for the Cougars. Wilson-Murry led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 7-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Spirit Ricks dropped a team-high 16 points in the loss for the Bulldogs, Diego Lucas added 16, and Glenn Jordan scored 14.

Cuesta completes the season sweep of the Allan Hancock and finishes the regular season with a 21-7 overall record, 8-2 in conference play. Allan Hancock falls to 22-6 overall, 7-3 in conference play.

Both teams will now await their fate for the upcoming CCCAA men’s basketball postseason which begins next week.
