Izzie Fraire and Glenn Jordan of Allan Hancock College were named Athletes of the Week at the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table in Santa Maria.
Fraire, a member of the Bulldogs’ women’s swimming team, is the female athlete of the week. Fraire won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke races at the first of three Western State Conference meets last week.
“It means a lot because there are so many amazing athletes that have just as much talent as me, and just to be noticed, it means a lot,” Fraire said.
Jordan, a member of the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball team, is the male athlete of the week. Jordan scored a team-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists in a 77-74 victory over San Diego Miramar last Wednesday in the first round of the SoCal Regionals.
“It was a great experience. Like I said, I enjoyed every moment these past two years,” Jordan said. “We really built a family bond here and that’s the thing I’m going to remember the most. We have a lot of guys on our team, a lot of redshirts, and every single guy is part of the program. It’s a really big family, and I’m grateful for all of the relationships I’ve made.”
Allan Hancock was defeated by Fullerton in the SoCal Regional quarterfinals on Saturday, 68-59.
