Cabrillo senior Ty Hernandez signed his National Letter of Intent to run track at Westmont College in Santa Barbara on Friday afternoon at Cabrillo High School.
The two-sport Conquistador specializes in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, and last spring, Hernandez captured the 300-meter hurdles title at the Los Padres League Championships.
Also as a junior, he placed sixth at the CIF finals and was the Santa Barbara County champion in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
On the gridiron this past fall, Hernandez earned Cabrillo’s lone First-Team All-Channel League selection as a defensive back.
Hernandez plans on jumping and hurdling at Westmont.
