Lompoc’s very own Julian Araujo continues to make noise on the pitch, and Wednesday in an ESPN article, it stated Araujo is keeping the door open of a switch from the United States National Team to Mexico’s National Team.

He is currently a member of the U.S. U20 Youth National Team which wrapped up World Cup competition in Poland in the middle of June. Araujo didn’t see any playing time.

Araujo, who holds dual citizenship with the United States and Mexico, grew up watching both national teams and is eligible to play for either squad.

Araujo discussed his national team future with KSBY on Wednesday.

“Whoever gives me better opportunities is the team that I will end playing for,” Araujo said. Now, I’m focused on the Galaxy and focused on my development, but my doors are open for both teams.”

The 17-year-old fullback got his break in March when he signed a first-team deal with the LA Galaxy of the MLS. He’s played in 10 games – started eight – and tallied one assist with six shots.

Araujo added he doesn’t have a timeline for his decision.
