For the first time in program history, the Allan Hancock women's soccer team is playoff bound.

The Bulldogs earned the 18-seed in the CCCAA SoCal Regional after finishing the regular season with an 8-8-6 record and fifth place in the Western State-North Conference.

Allan Hancock will travel to Irvine, CA to face 15-seed Saddleback College (11-5-4) in its first round matchup.

Bulldogs head coach Billy Vinnedge is proud of what his team has been able to accomplish this season and knows this is just the start of something special.

"You know, it means everything to this program. As coaches, what we do is for the ladies and for the program. It's not about us," Vinnedge said. "We've got a lot of talent, a lot of heart on this team. We expect a good game even though we haven't been before. A lot of these ladies have played in some sort of playoff format through their careers. They're excited and ready to go."

First touch between Allan Hancock and Saddleback is scheduled for 2 P.M. on Thursday.

The Cuesta women's soccer team (14-4-2) will also be in action at the same time. The 14-seed Cougars host 19-seed Santa Ana (10-8-2).
