College basketball fans will have to cheer on their favorite Cal Poly Mustang players from home this season.

On Wednesday, the Cal Poly Athletics Department released the Men's Basketball Schedule for the 2020-21 season with COVID-19 restrictions.

The press release said, in part, "Per the direction of the Big West Board of Directors, all teams will begin the season without spectators in attendance. The issue of fan attendance will be revisited as the season progresses."

Nov. 25, Cal Poly Men's Basketball 2020-21 schedule features eight non-conference games and 20 Big West Conference games.

The Mustangs will kick off their season on the road against the University of Portland on Wednesday, Nov. 25th.

Cal Poly Men's team will open Big West play at Hawai'i on Sunday, Dec. 27th and Monday, Dec. 28th. The Mustangs will then host UC San Diego on Friday, Jan. 1st and Saturday, Jan. 2nd.

Instead of 16 games, the Big West schedule now includes 20 games to accommodate the off-season contests of UC San Diego (making its Division I debut) and CSU Bakersfield.

Big West teams will also play the same opponent on consecutive days at one site to reduce travel.

Most games are scheduled to take place on Fridays and Saturdays.

Each Big West program will play its conference schedule over an 11-week period with one bye week.

Games will not be rescheduled should a program need to quarantine during the season, according to the press release.

Women's Basketball released their schedulein early Oct. with similar guidelines.

They kick off their season Nov. 25th at Stanford. Tip-off is 11 a.m.

"We are so excited that we have been granted an opportunity to compete this season. Obviously, so many variables are out of our control. We've only recently been given permission to pass the ball to a teammate," said Cal Poly head coach Faith Mimnaugh.
