H.S. Cross Country: CIF State Championships

The CIF State Cross Country Championships were held Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

DIVISION 1
Girls:
Following a second place finish at the CIF Central Section Champions, Arroyo Grande captured 16th place with 348 points. Freshman phenom Taylor Jones was the Eagles' top finisher in 15th place with a time of 18:05.20.

Boys:
Paso Robles senior Damien Gavilan capped off a fantastic career with a 10th place finish in a time of 15:13.10. Arroyo Grande's Jonathan Munoz placed 46th in a time of 15:44.10.

DIVISION 2
Girls:
San Luis Obispo, the CIF Central Section champions, finished up its season with an 18th place finish with 393 points. Grace Rubio took 23rd fro the Tigers in a time of 18:13.50. Shaylee Grimm placed 30th in a time of 18:22.80. Paso Robles featured two individual runners, Charlotte Castelli and Madeline Loff. Castelli finished 47 while Loff placed 70th.

Boys:
San Luis Obispo took 13th as a team with 348 points. Senior Duncan Speirs was the Tigers' best finisher in 55th place with a time of 15:58.8. Fellow senior Colton Campa took 64th. Santa Maria's Yair Torres was the area's top D2 runner with a 35th place finish in a time of 15:42.70. Logan Jones of Atascadero placed 79th in a time of 16:13.7.

DIVISION 3
Girls:
Righetti's Naylea Calderon placed 102nd in a time of 20:18.50.

Boys:
Patrick Thomas of Mission Prep finished 107th in a time of 16:59.30.

DIVISION 4
Girls:
After capturing the CIF Central Section championship last week, the Titans finished the season 22nd with 509 points. Iliana Murgia was Nipomo's top finisher in 82nd place with a time of 19:59.70. Orcutt Academy junior Sonia Wasserman placed 75th in a time of 19:48.70.
