Lompoc's Stephen Espinoza is gearing up for the last half of his senior year and preparing for his next chapter playing baseball at New Meixco State.
"I've always wanted to play college baseball; it's been my dream since I was little... I started playing travel ball at a young age at nine or ten," Espinoza said.
After having last season canceled, he hopes he will be able to play his final season. "I really want my senior. I saw the faces of the seniors who didn't get to play last year, it was bummer. I don't want that feeling, I need a senior season."
Although the Lompoc stand out will be 908 miles from home, he is ready for a new experience in a new place.
"I've always been into traveling, visiting new places and new experiences. At first, I did want to stay closer to home where my family would be. But after talking it over with them, I know they wanted the same. They wanted the same experience, getting around the country more and traveling with me. At first I thought it would be more of a hard decision but after talking with the coaches it became easier."
Best of luck to Stephen Espinoza and his next chapter playing baseball at New Mexico State University.
