The Righetti boys water polo team defeated Morro Bay, 21-9, to capture the Mountain League championship Wednesday night at Morro Bay High School.

The Warriors finished league play with a 7-0 record and have now won 13-straight league titles and 24 in the last 25 seasons.

Righetti started on fire, leading the Pirates 8-1 after the first quarter. Jon Carcarey scored two of his team-high seven goals in the opening frame.

The Warriors outscored the Pirates in every quarter but the fourth. Daniel Rodriguez finished the night with four goals, while Eric Hidalgo chipped in three.

Righetti will now prepare to make another deep postseason run. The Warriors finished CIF Central Section runner-up in Division 1 last season, falling to top-seeded Buchanan 14-5 in the championship game.
