KSBY has learned from a source that Cal Poly has found its next head football coach, Beau Baldwin.

Football Scoop, an online sports site, broke the story Monday morning that Cal Poly is expected to hire Baldwin.

Baldwin has spent the last three seasons as an assistant head coach, and offensive coordinator at UC Berkeley where he worked with Mission Prep grad and current Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird.

Baldwin would join the Mustangs with plenty of successful Big Sky Conference experience. He was the head coach at Eastern Washington University from 2008-2016, accumulating an 85-32 record while winning five conference titles. Baldwin guided the Eagles to six FCS playoff appearances and an FCS championship in 2010.

Baldwin would replace Tim Walsh, who retired on November 25 after spending 11 seasons with the program.

According to our contact, a deal is currently being worked out and an announcement from Cal Poly is likely to come mid-week.

We have reached out to Cal Poly's athletic director Don Oberhelman for comment but have not heard back.
